Help neighbors verify whether their street is delayed by upcoming holidays so cans aren't left out on empty curbs:
Check address-specific pickup days, recycling week parity, and local transfer stations:
In Austin, residential pickup generally slides forward by one business day when an observed municipal holiday falls on a weekday. Days earlier in the week prior to the holiday run on normal schedules.
Curbside solid waste, recycling, and bulk collection across Austin is managed by City of Austin and serviced primarily by Austin Resource Recovery (ARR) & Central Texas Refuse.
Set carts at curb by 6:30 AM on collection day (5:30 AM during summer heat hours) or after 8:00 PM the night before.
Austin Resource Recovery charges $10.90 (plus tax) for each extra bag placed outside your brown trash cart that does not have an official City of Austin Extra Trash Sticker attached.
Blue recycling carts are collected every other week on an alternating Week A / Week B schedule on the same weekday as your regular trash and compost collection.
All food scraps (produce, meat, bones, cheese, bread), food-soiled paper products (pizza boxes, napkins, paper coffee filters), and yard clippings.
