Help neighbors verify whether their street is delayed by upcoming holidays so cans aren't left out on empty curbs:
Check address-specific pickup days, recycling week parity, and local transfer stations:
In Philadelphia, residential pickup generally slides forward by one business day when an observed municipal holiday falls on a weekday. Days earlier in the week prior to the holiday run on normal schedules.
Curbside solid waste, recycling, and bulk collection across Philadelphia is managed by City of Philadelphia and serviced primarily by City of Philadelphia Streets Department (Sanitation Division).
Set trash and recycling out after 7:00 PM the evening before (April–September) or after 5:00 PM (October–March). All items must be at the curb by 7:00 AM on collection day.
When a city-observed holiday falls on a weekday, trash and recycling collection is delayed by one day for the remainder of that week (e.g. Monday routes are picked up Tuesday, and Friday routes on Saturday).
Philadelphia residents can drop off up to 12 bags of trash, large appliances, and mattresses free of charge with proof of residency at any of the city's 6 Sanitation Convenience Centers.
