Help neighbors verify whether their street is delayed by upcoming holidays so cans aren't left out on empty curbs:
Check address-specific pickup days, recycling week parity, and local transfer stations:
In Los Angeles, residential pickup generally slides forward by one business day when an observed municipal holiday falls on a weekday. Days earlier in the week prior to the holiday run on normal schedules.
Curbside solid waste, recycling, and bulk collection across Los Angeles is managed by City of Los Angeles and serviced primarily by City of Los Angeles Sanitation (LASAN) & Long Beach Public Works.
Set containers curbside by 6:00 AM on collection day or after 6:00 PM the evening before. Check street sweeping signs to avoid parking citations.
LASAN collects blue recycling carts every two weeks. Your street is assigned to an A-Week or B-Week rotation corresponding to odd or even ISO calendar weeks.
Los Angeles residents can request free curbside pickup for mattresses, couches, and appliances by calling 311 or submitting a request via the MyLA311 mobile app.
